What does orthodontic treatment involve?

Orthodontics uses devices such as a brace to correct the position of the teeth. Your exact treatment will depend on the problems with your teeth.

We aim to ensure that NHS orthodontics will provide comprehensive treatments for children and, in some situations, adults. However, we'd like to coordinate the treatment timings to align with our availability, rather than have them scheduled continuously.

Free NHS Orthodontic treatment is available for all patients under the age of 18, provided they are in full time education, but conditions apply.

If your child has an orthodontic requirement we will discuss options with the patient and parent/guardian and in some instances we will refer onto a specialist Orthodontic Clinic in Glasgow for full assessment. Only moderate to severe orthodontic conditions will be funded by the NHS, we can advise accordingly. We have worked closely with a couple of fantastic orthodontists over the last few years with superb results for our patients. Treatment times will vary depending on the degree of improvement required.

NHS Orthodontics for Adults

Most adults will be treated privately, especially if cases are more severe or outcome is uncertain. In some circumstances adults might be eligible for NHS Orthodontic treatment but it very much depends on the degree of alignment required, and if it satisfies the NHS qualifying criteria.
